Roaches are after food and water. Make sure you take care of any water leaks and keep the areas dry. You should also see to it that foods are stored away from pests. They like to forage at night or in the dark. The females produce an egg casing that contains the eggs. The entire life cycle can take as little as two months, so they can overrun your home if you don’t get them under control. The growth regulator insec¬ticides work well on these pests.
Here is our favorite boric acid recipe:
- 4 parts boric acid powder
- 2 parts of either flour or sugar
- 1 part cocoa
Put this out in bottle caps or other small containers under the sink, behind appli¬ances, and other places where kids and pets can’t get.
As a matter of fact, boric acid powder by itself does a good job of controlling roaches. Put it where they will walk through it and then clean it off their feet. A thin layer of it is better than a thick covering. The small, compact bait traps are super easy to use and will work well if placed in the right spots. Clean and sanitary conditions will make the biggest difference. Keep after them, and you can win the battle.
